Aerex and Standards of Quality

All employees of Aerex Industries are responsible for complying with the requirements of quality standards as specified in our Quality Assurance Manuals. Management is responsible for performing activities that ensure these standards are followed and maintained. A dedicated Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager, who supports Management and has unencumbered access to Aerex executives, has the authority for the administration of the company’s quality assurance standards. The QA/QC Manager has complete authority to identify quality problems; to initiate, recommend, and provide solutions; to verify implementation of solutions; and to ensure that further processing, delivery, installation, or use is controlled until proper disposition of a nonconformance, deficiency, or unsatisfactory condition has occurred. In addition, personnel are encouraged to identify new ideas for improving products, processes, and services.

Also, when quality or safety problems occur, all personnel have the responsibility and authority to take necessary corrective actions, including the stoppage of work, when such action is warranted. When problems or differences of opinion involving quality or safety cannot be resolved within a timely manner, employees will bring the issue to the attention of the QA/QC Manager who will escalate the issue for final resolution.

ASME Section III – Division 1

The ASME BPV Certification Program conforms to the rules governing the design, fabrication, assembly, and inspection of boiler and pressure vessel components during construction. In 1916, shortly after the first publication of the Rules for the Construction of Stationary Boilers and for Allowable Working Pressures, known today as the ASME BPVC, ASME began offering certification to companies in the pressure equipment industry to certify their quality control systems. Products manufactured by ASME BPV Certificate Holders are certified and stamped with the Certification Mark (a.k.a., Designator or Stamp) in accordance with the applicable ASME BPVC Section.

This division covers the mandatory requirements, specific prohibitions and nonmandatory guidance for materials, design, fabrication, inspection and testing, markings and reports, overpressure protection and certification of pressure vessels having an internal or external pressure which exceeds 15 psi (100 kPa).

ASME NQA – 1

The ASME NQA-1 Certification program provides a means for an organization supplying items or services which provide a safety function for nuclear facilities to have its Quality Assurance Program recognized by ASME as having had its Quality Assurance Program audited and verified to be in conformance with the requirements of the ASME NQA-1 Standard.

The NQA-1 Certification Program is developed, maintained and administered by ASME and industry subject matter experts serving as volunteers on ASME’s committees. The NQA-1 Quality Program Certificate is available to organizations implementing the ASME NQA-1 Standard, Part I and Part II, or portions there of.

National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors

The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors was created in 1919 to promote greater safety to life and property through uniformity in the construction, installation, repair, maintenance, and inspection of pressure equipment. The National Board membership oversees adherence to laws, rules, and regulations relating to boilers and pressure vessels. The National Board Members are the chief boiler inspectors representing most states and all provinces of North America, as well as many major cities in the United States.

Nondestructive Examination

Standards designed to impart weld quality differ from job to job, but the use of appropriate examination techniques can provide assurance that the applicable standards are being met. Whatever the standard of quality, all Aerex welds are inspected. A good-looking weld surface appearance is many times considered indicative of high weld quality. However, surface appearance alone does not assure good workmanship or internal quality.

Nondestructive examination (NDE) methods of inspection make it possible to verify compliance to the standards on an ongoing basis by examining the surface and subsurface of the weld and surrounding base material. Five basic methods are commonly used to examine finished welds: visual, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic and radiographic (X-ray). The growing use of computerization with some methods provides added image enhancement, and allows real-time or near real-time viewing, comparative inspections and archival capabilities. A review of each method helps in deciding which process or combination of processes are used for specific jobs and in performing the examination most effectively.

ASME Section I

This section of ASME provides the requirements for construction of power, electric, and miniature boilers, high temperature water boilers used in stationary service, and power boilers used in locomotive, portable, and traction service. The rules are applicable to boilers in which steam or other vapor is generated at a pressures exceeding 15 psig, and high temperature water boilers intended for operation at pressures exceeding 160 psig and/or temperatures exceeding 250 degree F. Superheaters, economizers, and other pressure parts connected directly to the boiler without intervening valves are considered as part of the scope of Section I

Aerex maintains a high degree on involvement and engagement to insure that quality issues are avoided as early as possible in the design-fabrication-delivery cycle.

Aerex Welding Standards

Aerex engineers have considerable experience adhering to various welding standards and specifications for quality assurance within diverse industries. We are able to comply with various standards including, but not limited to, AWS and ASME.
